An Analytical Hierarchy Process Approach for Smart City Assessment in Japan:

The smart city (SC) has become the new megatrend in sustainable urban development and enjoys worldwide popularity. After thoroughly reviewing relevant literature, two clusters of concepts/notions are observed. One cluster focuses on information communication technologies (ITCs) their application, while other improving quality life via ITCs. To better assess SCs a regional context, we have summarised key features components SC proposed comprehensive framework comprising objectives, six domains means implementation. Moreover, selected compiled specific indicators under each domain applied an analytical hierarchy process for indicator weighting case Kitakyushu City, Japan. outcomes this paper provide several insights into methodological approaches developing evaluating projects stakeholders such as planners, scholars, community developers policymakers.
